MARCH WISHLIST

Updated: Aug 20, 2019

In the UK right now, we're currently at that time of year where one week you'll be cruising around in (probably very crumpled from spending a season in storage) light-weight jackets, with sunglasses propped on head, daydreaming about the fanciful summer outfits you'll soon be wearing - and the the next week you'll be desperately clamouring for the umbrella and down jacket you optimistically hid at the back of the wardrobe in the - almost literal - heat of a fleeting summer moment in February (climate change, is that you?). Personally, I love variation - even if it does mean I get caught in a shower or two - because it allows me to stretch all aspects of my wardrobe and challenges me to get creative.

This collection of pieces that have recently inspired me reflects the ever-changing personalities of British springtime, but it also keeps in mind the glorious sunny days ahead.

Mango deserve a medal for their dreamy editorials that always leave me questioning whether it's the really the item of clothing I'm lusting after or the story that the shoot tells.

There's so many light-coloured blazers on the market this season, but if I was going to buy any it would be this one for it's versatile tailoring. Details like the belt and the double-breasted buttons mean there's room to play between structured and relaxed looks.

SILK SHIRT - & OTHER STORIES:

This shirt also comes in black, sage and yellow - but of all of the choices I'm definitely lusting after either the black version or this rust variation. Rust is one of my favourite colours, and I can't wait to merge it with the cream-craze that's everywhere this season. What makes me want this specific shirt over other silk or satin shirts on the market is the attention to detail - the collar cut is so elegant but practical and for me, really nails that holy middle ground between masculine and feminine style. I can never have enough tortoiseshell in my life, but these buttons aren't obnoxiously big so don't look trend-led meaning this piece will age well.

RIBBED TOP - MASSIMO DUTTI

Even if I'm being slightly too optimistic to think that the UK will basking in the warmth that this top demands, I think it could be put to work as a layering piece until I jump on a plane or the notoriously unreliable British summertime arrives. I can imagine this piece either over a plain turtle neck or underneath a print shirt looking timeless. I can only pray that I wouldn't end up spilling something down it's front before the sunshine arrives.

TESS BAG - CHLOÉ

@ NET-A-PORTER

I've been searching for the perfect cross-body handbag and I'll be sure to take inspiration from this Chloé equestrian-esque leather and suede bag. I'm drawn to the commanding bulkiness of the strap and bag body that's juxtaposed nicely to the golden hardware. I'm not sure what would be the more difficult part when buying this bag - parting with £1,430 for a (albeit beautiful) handbag or choosing one of the many divine tones that Chloé has on offer for this design.
